Aspen Impact
Make sure your staff members think like successful business owners.

What's better about partnering with Aspen Impact versus doing things another way?

Aspen Impact offers distinct advantages:

Experience and knowledge from hundreds of business and nonprofit case studies

Clear and straightforward tools to encourage higher performance

Skilled business thinkers, creative talent, financial experts, and industry specialists

The professional training of Aspen Impact's team is deep, including degrees from some of the world's top universities. The firm's members have also completed specialized training in information technology at PricewaterhouseCooper's Globat Training Centre, in fundraising and grant proposal writing through the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, in earned-income ventures through The Grantsmanship Center, and in accounting and finance through CPA Societies.

Are there any geographic limits to a project?

Generally not. Since we're based in Indianapolis, about two-thirds of our clients are in Indiana. Even so, our team has worked in places as diverse as London, Berlin, Boston, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and Paris. Besides working at client sites, we use web cameras, Skype phones, e-mail, and other Internet technologies to communicate with clients and colleagues around the globe.

What are some examples of how clients have benefited?

During this year, 2007, Aspen Impact began assisting a client that had experienced nearly ten years of net losses. Within a year of our engagement, we'd guided the client toward a new strategy. The client made a profit and is now headed toward a second straight year of income growth. For another client, we developed a new operating model that resulted in a six-figure grant award from one of the nation's wealthiest foundations. For a third client, we developed a completely new brand image that has given that organization greater public awareness, an expanding client base, and a clear identity for the future.

What kind of investment is involved?

Aspen Impact charges based on the value of the project to the client. The calculation is usually a percentage of the likely cash benefit the client will gain from the project. Sometimes Aspen Impact does by-hour projects, but hourly billing rarely makes sense. Usually it's easiest to determine the project amount after a few discussions about your goals. The main thing is to make sure you, as the client, benefit much more than if you'd done the project with your own staff.
